BET’s 2008 Mother’s day special is a tribute by some of our most talented artist to the women that raised them. It’s an intimate look into the lives of these celebrities as they introduce the most inspirational person in their lives. Through humorous stories, shared pictures, home video from the family vault, memories and words of wisdom we explore the unbreakable bond between mother and child. Ashanti will be on the show thanking her momanger, Tina Douglas. Other appearances on the show include Wyclef Jean, Ray-J, and Cherish. The show airs tonight, May 9th (BET) at 7:30PM.
Ashanti will also debut a song titled "Mother" from her upcoming album "The Declaration" (which hits stores June 3rd!) on the show!

MTV Networks announced a partnership with Marketing Evolution, a custom market research and consulting firm.
The deal will be a part of MTV Networks’ pitch about advertising effectiveness at its upfront presentation tonight in New York.
Through the partnership, MTVN will be the first media company to offer clients a suite of measurements based on Marketing Evolution's premium data analysis and marketing effectiveness metrics in order to give them a better idea of what kind of return they’re getting on their spending with MTV’s networks.
The metrics are called “Effectiveness Targeting.”
“Our partnership with Marketing Evolution will allow marketers, for the first time, to see exactly how our brands can deliver on attributes ranging from awareness to word of mouth,” said Hank Close, president of U.S. ad sales for MTV Networks. “Effectiveness Targeting represents a major breakthrough in marketing accountability. Nothing like this exists in the market today.”
MTV said Effectiveness Targeting will enable clients to identify a specific marketing goal—ranging from building awareness around a product launch to immediately driving sales—and optimize advertising buys to achieve that goal with the best possible return on investment.
MTV’s upfront event was expected to include appearances by Justin Timberlake, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Rock, Ashanti, Taylor Swift, Lauren Conrad, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, George Foreman and Dr. Drew Pinsky, plus musical performances by John Legend, Sarah Silverman, JabbaWockeeZ from MTV's “Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew” and the cast of the Broadway musical “Legally Blonde.”
Ashanti has jumped 7 spots on the Hot 100 charts from #44 to #37 & up 2 spots on the R&B/Hip Hop charts from #4 to #2. Be sure to continue to request the song at radio!

HOLLYWOOD SCOOP: R&B singer Ashanti is ready to hop on board the celebrity baby bandwagon. Ashanti, who is dating rapper Nelly, says she's already saving up money to become a mom. Quite the little planner aren't we?
She says, "I need, like, 12 (kids)... I love kids. I definitely want to get married... I'm so family oriented. I want the big wedding, I want the long marriage, I want kids.
"(But) I've got to stack my cheese a little bit more... I want to be able to bring my kids into the world nice and comfortable."
All they need to do is sell off one of Nelly's blinged out bracelets and that should be enough to support at least three kids until their 18th birthdays.

Ashanti is declaring her independence on “Declaration” and holds no punches in this month’s issue of Sister 2 Sister Magazine. The R&B songbird sat down for an exclusive interview with ‘S2S’ publisher Jamie Foster Brown to discuss her new album, her label situation, personal relationships and to set the record straight about Murder Inc.
A lot of people want to know where Ashanti stands since Murder Inc shifted to The Inc. She says she is still signed to The Inc but she is doing her project on her own. The producers, the budgets, the behind the scenes, the flying around, the creativity, is all handle by her and her team.
Discussing her relationship with Irv Gotti, Ashanti says “Sometimes, Irv—he gets very emotional. Sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes it's not a good thing. In this business there's really no room for emotion because it can mess a lot of things up.”
When ask about the track “Judas” Ja Rule addressed her on, Ashanti says the platinum rapper could have just picked up the phone and call her. In regards to the two working together again, she says “It's so expected for me and Ja to do a record, so we both kind of took control of our projects and wanted to do something very different this time. It doesn't mean that we're never going to do another record together. 'Cause you know we have an amazing chemistry.”

As recently reported, Tapemasters Inc. is releasing a new mixtape with a featured song from Ashanti. It was reported that the song is titled "Lose Your Love", we recently got a hold of a track entitled "In These Streets", perhaps they changed the title to the track? Sounds like it. We don't know if this song will be Ashanti's second single but it sure is nice to hear something new from her! Stay tuned we'll keep you posted!

Ashanti was in Sacramento, California yesterday to perform for KSFM's Cinco de Mayo concert. According to Andre, who attended the concert, Ashanti performed: "Rock Wit U", "Happy", "Down 4 U", "Baby", "Always On Time", "Whats Luv", "Rain On Me", "Foolish", "Mesmerize", a clip of "Switch", and "The Way That I Love You".

Ashanti will perform at The Sold-Out 8th Annual Cinco De Mayo Festival in Sacramento. The event will be held this weekend, on May 4th at Discovery park. Lloyd, Baby Bash, Amanda Perez, Cherish, are some of the other performers at the show. More events are coming soon!
